Woman with Methamphetamine in her bra, lured boys, ages 5 and 6, to Wal-Mart with candy

A Dallas woman was arrested after police say she lured two children away from their homes with candy and the promise of more treats Tuesday.

Castle Kameron Gately, 23, was initially arrested on a shoplifting charge after she was seen stealing with the children at a Wal-Mart at 6185 Retail Road in northeast Dallas, police records show.

Loss-prevention workers questioned the boys, ages 5 and 6, and it quickly became clear they didn’t belong to Gately and didn’t even know her, according to a police report.

The boys said they had followed her to the Wal-Mart because she promised to buy them “whatever they wanted,” according to her arrest warrant affidavit.

The two friends said they had been playing outside their apartment complex when Gately approached them and said she’d buy them food and water if they came with her.

A witness told police he saw Gately “luring the children with a chocolate bar” so he followed her to the Wal-Mart, about a mile away from the children’s homes.

When police searched Gately, who they said is homeless, they found a clear bag containing crystal methamphetamine tucked into her bra.

The two children were safely returned to their mothers, who had both called 911 to report them missing.

Gately faces two charges of unlawful restraint of a minor, one count of substance possession and one count of property theft under $30,000.

She is being held in the Dallas County Jail on $150,000 bail.
