Neighborhood evacuated due to suspected meth lab

ATTLEBORO, Mass. — Residents on Knight Avenue in Attleboro were evacuated after police said they discovered a meth lab.

Sunday afternoon officers responded to an overdose around 1 p.m. and said they subsequently discovered a meth lab. The bomb squad and HazMat team responded to help dismantle the lab.

For most of the afternoon, HazMat crews covered from head to toe in decontamination suits have been dismantling the lab, which is in an apartment building.

The suspected meth lab cooker was taken to the hospital; police said the 57-year-old became nauseous while cooking a batch of meth in a small, make-shift lab.

By 6:00 p.m., officials had cleared the scene.
