"The Hills" Star Stephanie Pratt Reveals She Smoked Meth up to 13 Times a Day as a Teen

Cosmopolitan, August 18, 2015

Us Weekly reports in her new memoir, Made in Reality, Stephanie Pratt, 29, made some bombshell revelations about her teenage years. Stephanie, who appeared on the reality shows The Hills and Made in Chelsea, said she struggled with an addiction to crystal meth that started in her early teenage years.

In her new memoir, Stephanie (whose brother is The Hills co-star Spencer Pratt) revealed she was about 14 or 15 years old when she first tried crystal meth.

"I was on the extreme level and addiction developed instantly," she wrote. She smoked "probably four times before school, then at snack ... probably 12 or 13 times a day."

She said she also used cocaine and often drove while high, which she said was fueled by depression and a desire to die.

"I didn't care about anything. I could live or die, I didn't care," she wrote in the book. "I had nothing to get out of bed for, nothing was exciting."

Stephanie was arrested in 2006 for shoplifting clothes from a Neiman Marcus in Honolulu and then again in 2009 for driving under the influence. In the new book, Stephanie says during her first arrest in 2006, she was high and woke up not knowing where she was.

"I woke up handcuffed to a hospital bed," she wrote. "When I landed back in L.A., Mom took me back home and I went upstairs to my old bedroom and I felt so much shame."

Her life turned around for a while during her stint on The Hills, until she became bulimic, citing the pressure to stay thin on the hit show as the cause.

"I lost about six pounds in two weeks but bulimia made my face very puffy so I freaked out and began going on crazy little diets, like I'd only eat Tic Tacs," she said. Stephanie said since then, she overcame her eating disorder and has worked to stay drug-free.
