Ohio Police Record Big Jump In Meth-Lab Seizures

10Tv.com, October 22, 2013

CLEVELAND - Authorities say they've seen a big jump in methamphetamine lab busts in Ohio this year.

Police have reported seizing 881 meth labs across the state so far this year - a 45-percent increase over 2012.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation numbers Tuesday, noting that meth is becoming a drug of choice in the rural parts of the state.

Summit County, in northeastern Ohio, led the state with 248 seized meth labs, or about one in every four seized labs in the state.

The numbers began to increase about five years ago when a new portable form of meth manufacturing allowed it to be made more quickly. Authorities say it's a constant battle.
