Recuso

I wanted the art to be something that was very appealing to look at, that had a positive image that people could enjoy. The main image in the painting is large graffiti lettering of the word recuso. Recuso is a latin word meaning: reject, refuse, refuse to; object; decline. (it is obvious why this is a very appropriate.) The second major image in the painting is a stencil of one of my friends. This portion of the painting is focusing more towards beauty in general, it also balances the painting as a whole, as well as adding something powerful and appealing to the eye. The painting in it entirety is supposed to be a positive message more than a negative one. There is a "love life" quote in the center of the painting. love life is a really basic concept that every one can easily relate to on several different levels. My main goal was to portray something that from a distance didn't appear too obvious, in what it's general purpose was. then on closer inspection, the message is easily taken in. I figured if you can get someone to stop and interpret something then it gives them time to think.
